Book project "They call me zombie" with illustrations by international artists - information and my work in it

Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva

Time's always a good reminder of who you're or what you did or are doing in present time and I know that real time's totally different from web time in order to promote or pitch a book idea.
I remember that more than one year ago I was finishing several exhibitions all over the world with help by the best international artists that I know of l (and they were more than one hundred with me comunicating with them in several languages) regarding a XXth century paper woman character that I've brought back to life inside a book collection to American publisher Fantagraphics where I used to work along other book collections as consultant editor for this book company that I've left because of ethical reasons and that are stated in this blogue in a previous post in it.
I've organized and curated real simple collective exhibitions with more than a hundred international artists since 2016 and each one of them had a main theme, narrative and even its soundtrack such as "cats as pets", "music and musicians", "identity"," identity - end of narrative ", " Alberto Breccia and his works", " life and death" or even "Zombierella" and that can be seen in previous posts in this same blogue.
I was working on several books at the same time during these two years and that were or are being published now in book publishing companies all over the world, being them the following:
- A book collection that started on my mind regarding Argentine maestro Alberto Breccia completed bibliography and to whom I also organized a tribute exhibition that can be read/seen in this same blogue also.
- A book collection dedicated to Finnish Artist Matti Hagelberg
- Complete works of Swedish Artist Max Andersson
- book "Savages" and a complete book collection by Croatian Artist Danijel Zezelj
- Miracleman by British Artists Alan Moore, Garry Leach, American artists Rick Veitch and John Totleben
- Luna Park by American writer Kyle Baker and Croatian Artist Danijel Zezelj
- V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.
- A book collection dedicated to Argentine maestro José Munoz masterpieces stories.
- A book collection dedicated to Italian maestro Guido Crepax
- A book collection dedicated to Argentine maestro Alberto Breccia
- A book collection dedicated to Spanish maestros Ruben Pellejero and Enrique Sanchez Abuli.
- Writing comic book stories based on a XXIST century woman and that were located in 10 cities in different countries such as Porto - Portugal with art by Portuguese Artist Paulo Pinto, São Paulo - Brazil with art by Brazilian artist Brao, Milan - Italy with art by Spanish Artist Sandra Hernandez, Barcelona with art by Argentine Artist Mr Ed, Madrid - Spain with art by Spanish Artist Felipe Navarro, Santiago do Chile - Chile with art by Catalonyan Artist Toni Benages Gallard, Kyoto - Japan with art by Japanese Artist John Kurokawa, Le Mans - France with art by Spanish Artist Fidel Martinez Nadal, London - England with art by Spanish Artist Pedro Espinosa, Warsaw - Poland with art by Polish Artist Magdalena Minko and several extras featuring artworks by some legends in comic book industry such as American Artist George Pratt, British Artists Brian Bolland and Dave Mckean, Croatian Artist Danijel Zezelj, Spanish Artists Santiago Sequeiros and Ruben Pellejero, Argentine Artists Patricia Breccia, Quique Alcatena and Carlos Nine and Brazilian photographer Alex Korolkovas and L.A. models Katya Kulizhka from Ukraine,Vika Costa from Russia, Barbara Nogueira and Adriana Moura from Brazil and that wanted (and still want) to promote this book at Taschen bookstore in New York City - U.S.A with their physical appearance and even my own as creator of this project.
- A book anthology that I was organising with help by the best Nordic Artists that I know of like Swedish Artists Max Andersson, Lars Erik Sjunesson, Knut Larsson, Nicolas Krizan, Clara Bessijelle Johansson, Danish Artist Henrik Kim Rehr, Finnish Artist Terhi Ekebom, and Polish Artist Bartosz Jekiel named "Lost in a nordic dream"
- A book anthology that I was organizing with help by by Italian Artists such as Stefano Zattera, Rolando Cicatelli, Danilo Dast Strullato among many others.
- A book with interviews by me to some of the best international artists and musicians that I know of such as American artists Greg Ruth, Peter Bagge, Gary Reed, George Pratt, Melinda Gebbie, Argentine Artists Mr Ed, Quique Alcatena, Patricia and Cristina Breccia, Finnish Artist Terhi Ekebom, Swedish Artists Max Andersson and Lars Erik Sjunnesson, British Artist David Lloyd, Croatian Artist Danijel Zezelj, Portuguese Artists Paulo Pinto and Derradé, Spanish Artists Santiago Sequeiros, Ruben Pellejero, Enrique Sanchez Abuli and Fidel Martinez Nadal, Italian Artist Fabio Civitelli, German Artist Anke Feuchtenberger, Belgium Artist Dominique Goblet, French Artist Olivier Deprez, Caterina and Antonio Crepax, Czech musician Iva Bittova, Russian musicians Oleg Guitaracula, Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva, Mascara Girl, Portuguese musicians Vitor Rua and Luciano Amaro Barbosa.
Too many books were passing at the time on my mind and my hands from all over the world in order for me to try to work on them as the writer/editor that I was and that I still am.
I remember that I've made an interview to a Zombie lady/zombierella, more than one year ago and that can be read in this same blogue.
She told me then, that she was being used by her band leader Oleg Guitaracula (to whom I also made an interview in this same blogue) being fired by the band that he created named Messer Chups and that later she came back to the band with a sudden case that reminded me a bit of stockholm syndrome or simple masochism.
I remember that at the time that I was doing her the mentioned interview, I've told her about an exhibition with some of the best international artists that I know of (that was curated, organized and displayed in several places with artworks with inspiration based on her physical looks and character) and that I even told her about a book deal where I could write stories based on her with artworks/illustrations provided by several international artists that had published books all over the world in several languages (like I also have) and that I would need her help also, since we were talking about inspiration based on her own physical looks and character.
She told me that she could promote the artworks that she liked most in her personal Instagram and that was what she did in promotion terms.
Later, I wasn't understanding her mind, when she sent me harsh words regarding another project that I was creating at the time with Russian musician Mascara Girl from Leopard Bonapart fame and with help by international artists that also created illustrations and artworks based on her such as Italian Artist Stefano Zattera and Rolando Cicatelli, Japanese Artist John Kurokawa, Argentine Artist Pablo Burman, Mexican Artist Gaston Ortiz and American Artist Erik von Erik. (like I was her own property or slave and not actually her partner).
I know that our project was being supported by several artists in several countries, that would be turned into a written book and later maybe into something else in visual media while I was thinking on it and its design, texts and graphic contents in real time.
The exhibition was a cool one with help by international artists who created artworks based on her and that are portrayed in pics as masters to turn into a written book with an excellent feedback by its live audience.
Later this year in May, zombie lady/zombierella was harsh once again towards me because I was thinking on a project/narrative with an Argentine musician named Didi Wray and that can also be seen in this same blogue in previous posts with artworks based on her by Japanese Artist Garbage which burns, Italian Artist Rolando Cicatelli, Catalonyan Artist Toni Benages Gallard, American Artist Rikki Romero, Spanish Artist Daniel Esteve and Argentine Artist Pablo Burman.
I didn't think about any of this and continued doing my work that's writing, exhibiting, curating and voicing a narrative with artworks illustrating it by the best international artists that I know of.
Below are some pictures with masters of some printed international artists artworks inspired on a zombie lady/zombierella and that are really astonishing.
I'll try to finish this project maybe next year, because I know that finishing a book with artworks isn't a simple task and if it's a tricky one as this one is, will be even harder.
Many thanks to all international artists who supported this and other projects of mine either in the past or the upcoming future.
Special thanks without any harsh word to Russian musician Svetlana who inspired me and international artists in this project with her cool character, to Didi Wray, to Russian musicians Mascara Girl, Polina Draculina and to Daria Kovaleva better known as Dasha Intoxica and with whom I'm creating a multimedia love project/narrative/reflection with help by international artists and some already created artworks at rush time based on her looks such as Italian artist Rolando Cicatelli, Argentine Artist Pablo Burman, American Artist Rikki Romero and Canadian Artist Stan Wany while she's intoxicating myself as Dasha Intoxica.

Narrative about Zombierella character - book project - book collections by international artists that I've organised and exhibitions that I've curated with help by international artists

Writing about a simple woman as Svetlana Nagaeva that's clearly a XXIst century woman with a complex character named Zombierella makes me wonder about some things inside people hearts, souls and memories.
I clearly know that's difficult to explain why an idea based on simple collages of Svetlana's pics by me with her permission gave me ideas of conceiving a book about her that I'm writing with help by more than 40 international artists from several countries like it's mentioned in lists with international artists names in this same blogue in previous posts.
I've tried to use in this narrative some images of books, movies or songs that I've read, watched or listened in order to try to sync it all in this sort of narrative.
I also know that I've made an interview to Svetlana in this same blogue in a previous post and that she told me about her influences in arts.
Below are some random thoughts by myself in a jigsaw narrative within my mind.

British writer Grant Morrison's masterpiece Invisibles issue 5 covers with design by British artist Rian Hughes and Morrison's words "All we want is everything"... "You are now leaving the twentieth century" and an Hellblazer random sketch of this character by British artist Sean Phillips and signed by British writer Jamie Delano with these words in it "you're never alone in the 21st century"

Zombierella reminded me that I've left the 20st century 18 years ago, that all that everybody wants right now is everything served in a plate without any work and that we aren't alone in the XXI century.

Zombierella as seen by Australian artist Tim Grace and a dialogue that I love from Peaky blinders Tv series

I also know that signatures or identity, lost "friends" or partners makes us wonder who we're, like in the dialogue below.

Peaky blinders Tv Series dialogue:
May Carleton:You... Have lost your wife, and now your brother too. I thought it would make you different, but it doesn't change you.
Tommy: So is this why you came here? For my fucking signature?

Zombierella as seen by Australian artist Tim Grace and a poster from 8 and an half movie by Italian director Federico Fellini

Trying to write about Svetlana or Zombierella is like being lost in Fellini's masterpiece movie " 8 and an half".

Tommy and Grace from Tv Series - Peaky Blinders

I clearly know that myself or Svetlana don't share the same love that Tommy and Grace do at Peaky Blinders Tv series

Tommy from Tv Series - Peaky Blinders with a quote by him that I love

I also know that I rarely answer questions.

Tommy and Alfie from Tv Series - Peaky Blinders

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the wanderer jew that Alfie Solomons character interpreted by British actor Tom Hardy describes in
Peaky Blinders Tv series

Hellblazer issue 40 by British writer Jamie Delano and British artist Dave Mckean

Written words in Hellblazer 40:
"The first is who you are
The second's in between.
And the third is who you want to be."

I'm also aware that I'm a simple guy that was born in the prettiest city in the world and that I do try to deal with my inner demons and guiding angels.

Two strips by Hellblazer comic book character created by British writer Alan Moore in British writer Paul Jenkins and artists Sean Phillips run

Hellblazer monologue written by Paul Jenkins in Hellblazer 119
"What you saw outside today.. Arch an' Chloe an' all that... What are you supposed to make of that, eh?
I mean, my world's all about magic an' lies an' old mates .. Who's to say any of it's real?

Or me, for that matter. Am I simply this... Black lines on white paper, an iconic representation of an idea?

Or am I as real as you are?

Maybe the real question isn't what is real and what's a lie? Maybe it's "what is reality?"

Hellblazer monologue written by Paul Jenkins in Hellblazer 120
"Look, I realize it's a bit naff feeling sorry for yourself after a few pints, but it's this place, innit?

Sometimes I feel like I live here.
You seem him over there? old mate of mine... From before I was even a player. Introduced me to a lot of people, he did. Back when I was nobody.
But him, he was full of clever bloody ideas got me involved in a lot of mad shit... Next thing I know. I'm in knee deep with the soddy cabbage club. My life's been a bloody mess ever since.
Ah well... Those were the days. eh? we've dropped out of touch a bit since then. I mean we run into each other from time to time. like.nothing much of cosequence. Still... you know... Cheers man."

I truly believe in what's real and what's illusion (or magic) and I'm always real fond of my memories while trying to do my work in a professional way.

The bow movie by Korean director Kim Ki Duk and a picture of Actor Kyle Maclachlan in David Lynch's   Twin Peaks: The Return Season 3

I also know that it didn't took me 25 years to gather a project with help by international artists from several countries communicating in different languages based on Zombierella as a character but only since March 2018 without any shadows in monochromatic as can be listened in Chromatics
musical band song below with its lyrics and that was part of David Lynch's Tv series Twin Peaks : The Return in 21st May 2017

Shadow, take me down
Shadow, take me down with you
For the last time
For the last time
For the last time
For the last time
You're in the water
I'm standing on the shore
Still thinking that I hear your voice
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
For the last time
For the last time
For the last time
For the last time
At night I'm driving in your car
Pretending that we'll leave this town
We're watching all the street lights fade
And now you're just a stranger's dream
I took your picture from the frame
And now you're nothing like you seem
Your shadow fell like last night's rain
For the last time
For the last time
For the last time
For the last time

I know that Zombierella name starts with a "Z", so is she a brand, a mark or a simple woman.

American director David Lynch with a quote that I love, Finnish artist Terhi Ekebom who I admire and a tribute to Zombierella by American artist Erik von Erik

Quote by American director David Lynch:
"Ideas are like fish, if you want to catch a little fish, you can stay in the shallow water.
but if you want to catch the big fish, you've got to go deeper."

I'm sure that I love talented, ethical and simple women or men in arts or life, nature and common simple fishes while being aware of metaphors that American director David Lynch uses in his movies or used in Twin Peaks TV Series Season one and two in the 90's when I was a teenager, and in 2017, being myself 44 years old, because a mystery is always a mystery, even if it's a simple one that evolves with a 25 years passage and that drops characters or masks and gives us the clear notion of pure good and evil in men's hearts.

Quote by American director David Lynch:
"Ideas are like fish, if you want to catch a little fish, you can stay in the shallow water.
but if you want to catch the big fish, you've got to go deeper."

British band Bauhaus poster + ticket from their "ressurection tour" from 1999 and "near the atmosphere" from 2006

I've also organized book collections for Gary Groth and his son while advicing the best book editions for Fantagraphics, to buy and create Fantagraphics their own digital files and collection by Alberto Breccia, either the book collections or the interviews that I made were simply ignored by an American publisher (maybe because of greed or financial interests).
I also know that I've curated exhibitions with several international artists only with my heart, soul and mind with simple themes and narratives in them such as "cats as pets", a strong word that's "identity", another one that's "permanent", "music and musicians" at Porto, also another one based on a simple concept such as "life or death" in France while developping another one with a musician/woman/character named Zombierella and all this information is mentioned in previous posts in this same blogue or in hundreds of emails that I've sent to Fantagraphics President Gary Groth that wasn't interested in these collections by some of the best artists ever and also lists of international artists with exhibitions promoting Fantagraphics books,  for free end even posters for them created by the best artists that I was working with at the time when they were exhibited.
I clearly remember having a nice personal chat eye to eye with Bauhaus singer Peter Murphy in Porto about comic books, books, movies, TV series and arts in 1996 and that he loved the knowledge that I had in books or comic books at the time.

Many thanks to all international artists who are with me in this project and several others that I've developped or that I'm developping.
Special thanks to Musician XXI century woman and my friend Svetlana that believes in this project.

Interview to Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva as a musician and XXI century woman

Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva

When I started to imagine this interview in my head to pose some questions to my friend and Russian musician Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva, I was a bit scared because while imagining her answers, I was thinking something like this:
"Is she actually my friend?"
"Will she kill me?"
"Who is Zombierella?"
"Must I become a zombie or a werewolf order to protect myself from her?"
But Svetlana is an awesome woman, a cool girl that loves Porto also and she is real kind to me, so she answered my questions quickly in a coffeeshop talk in the interview posted below.
I am thinking on developing some cool ideas with Svetlana with an exhibition of Zombierella as a character with help by International artists with how they "see" this woman and her character.

Interview to Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva as a musician/artist and a 21st century woman

01. You are Zombierella and you love to be called zombie if people can not remember your name. Are you a woman that loves to be lost in your own world as a musician?

Yes, I’m living inside my own world, as any artist who’s doing music, drawing, writing, making sculptures, movies etc.( any ways of creativity).
As ideas developpers we go down deep inside our universe, then we come back with something interesting, showing it on surface and people actually see that creature you bring them live.
Sensitive feelings are the ones that are hidden, it is a real cool atmosphere when you share them.

02. You are a simple woman from Saint Petersburg and you use several elements in your performances that come from gothic culture such as zombies, vampires, movie acthors Vincent Price, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney among others. What do you "see" in this genre of fictional culture as Zombierella?
Simple people don’t exist...))
As Zombierella I see all these guys as my friends...)
Everyone was born with some special features, I think I was born with some goth features.
I love horror, which is fun for me in some way.
And we didn’t spend Halloween in Russia as a kids by the way. That culture just came now here more or less.

03.  You were bassist and vocals for Russian band Messer Chups and now you have a new band with a different concept. Can you tell us a bit about it?
I’m having few projects now.
Zombierella’s ‘Tentative Reels’, where I’m doing different collaborations and experimenting with covers ( ‘Suicide Commando’- first video is on YouTube now);
another one, which is ready and coming soon, sci-fi electronic Trivia,
for sure I will release surf music too ( back to my past music career)).
But my main band now, which is new, is The Bleak Engineers.
Together with Alexander Moralez ( who’s a very good electronic musician) we are doing a melancholic wave music, using live guitars, vintage drum machines and retro synthesizers.
The first release will go out in May on French label Six Tonnes De Chair. Will be collectible 7” vinyl.)Happy about)))

04.  You look a lot like American actress Bettie Page with your own style but you are a shy girl.
How do you "see" yourself as a 21st century woman?

Who’s Betty?))
Who said I’m shy?)
First, I’m seeing myself drinking a coffee now in the morning.
Second, I could see myself different.
Doesn’t mean go with a flow and falling into waterfalls all together (smiling), but being curious and finding interesting things for your own in 21st century, in the past and in the future.
Third thing, continuing doing music and art.
FOREVER AND EVER!
(laughing like a cartoon villain)

05. You were in Porto. What do you think of this city? Were you a bit lost in it?
Very beautiful city, very nice people.
Really like it, just good and pleasant memories about.

06. I love how you appear, your presence and atmosphere in a video named Lipstick Twang by MC.
Do you still have that bracelet with symbols of simple card games?
Do you still kick cars for fun while listening to music?
Yes, I still have it, It is my favorite bracelet.
I have bought a similar one in Porto by the way in a little rock’n’roll store close to the club, because the first one became too old.
Not kicking the cars anymore, just listening to music now.
07. I know that you love Twin Peaks by American director David Lynch (you even made a parody of it in a video with you on it). How can you describe Twin Peaks Tv Series and the universe in it created by Lynch?
I have explained the process a little bit in my first answer.
David Lynch is a very generous and genius artist/director, because he’s sharing his deep universe with us, but he is also very professional, because he knows how to do that, knows the way and it’s a massive world influence among artists.
Also would like to add, it’s a team work, take as an example Angelo Badalamenti soundtrack in his movies, would it work without them???
Good team helps to have a successful result.

08. You are a cool girl. Can you tell us a bit of your origins in Russia and Saint Petersburg?
As everywhere you can see beautiful/cultural/smart things and something that is opposite.
But it’s my native country and a part of me.
St.Petersburg is very beautiful!Welcome!

09. Imagine that you are lost somewhere.
Would you prefer being a zombie or a vampire?
(I ask you this because people eat a lot of trash :) and I dont want to be someone's breakfast :))

I would probably prefer having a map inside my phone.I’m a modern creature...

10. In this new project with your new band, are you a different Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva or are you simply in another kind of mood as a woman?
As I told someone, I am always myself.
Yes, it’s a different kind of music, but it’s also dark influenced and it inspires me.
Question, quiz: Do you become another person if you usually prefer oatmeal for breakfast, but then you skip it for fruits?
Probably that’s another shade of your personality.

11. Do you eat popcorn while gazing at stars in this universe?
What do you as Zombierella think about this blue planet where we live in?

The only Popcorn I like, it’s the song that I have created.)
Universe is powerful, looking at the stars makes you forget everything at least for a second...

12. Do you prefer to walk in nature during the day or by night?

Love nature and walking any time except at night. I’m afraid of dark lightning but I have a good imagination...
All the best zombie wishes!
Stay creepy, my friends!
Ciao.
Zombierella

Many thanks to all international artists that support some of my ideas since I have started working with a paper woman that was Valentina by Italian maestro Guido Crepax in exhibitions all over the world and a book collection based on this italian artist works published by Fantagraphics with help by his family, the publishing company owner Gary Groth and his team as consultant editor in it and also a limited booklet dedicated to Crepax main character Valentina with help by more than hundred artists from several countries also all over the world (that can be read in previous posts in this same blogue) and now I am working with a flesh and bone 21st woman like Zombierella is.
Special thanks to my friend Svetlana Zombierella Nagaeva that is an amazing woman and a really cool musician and an excellent character.
