Writing a narrative for a tribute exhibition to Corto Maltese with help by international artists when in between several projects is real hard.
What I do know (because most of the times, I know nothing like any human being) is that Corto Maltese is a fictional character created by Italian maestro Hugo Pratt in 1967 and that put his own life and knowledge on this sailor without a boat adventures.
Hugo was Corto and Corto was Hugo being all fictional adventures not only imagination from Hugo but his real life among real people.
Corto Maltese is a fashion icon with published books in several languages all over the world.
The songs that Corto listened to, the movies that he watched or the books that he read or even the women that he talks to in the series were all real in Hugo Pratt's life.
I've wandered in my mind while thinking on organizing this tribute exhibition on sharing a bit of what I was doing or enjoying in my own life also.
Below are some of the things or moments that popped in on my head while beiginning to organizing it.

Rasputine is a Corto Maltese character but he also was a real historical figure that had a troubled life and that put him bitter with human beings reminding us about like his paper inspired character in Corto Maltese's adventures.

Peaky Blinders is a real good TV show and what you see on it is real similar to Corto Maltese while having the main character a mysterious life with a broken heart and a friend/fiend that is a wandering jew like Corto and Rasputine.

There is you and your own shadow, Corto Maltese's character loved his own shadow and talked with it several times.

I know only a thing, they really don't know who Corto or Hugo Pratt are and this is good in my opinion, people must always be simple and honest to themselves.

There's a black river in Saint Peterburg (that is a city that was built on a swamp with lots of prophecies) and a woman who builds sculptures based on women and that also doesn't know who Corto Maltese or Hugo Pratt are (even with published books in Russia and merchandising of the character), in my humble opinion this is real positive meaning that Corto Maltese as a character maybe or maybe not can have a different audience regarding his adventures.
